Super Bowl XLIV is just around the corner.  As the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts prepare for the big game, many fans who are unable to obtain the coveted tickets are preparing for a big party of their own.  Whether you are a fan of the game, are rooting for your favorite team, just watch for the commercials, or simply are enjoying time with friend, chances are there is a some form of a party involved.  However, if football, loud parties, or $3.01 million commercials are not your cup of tea, then it is likely you will forgo the super bowl party experience.

For those die hard football fans or big game party lovers, here are some fun and festive ways to make your big party a big success while going green in the process.

1. Recycle

Big parties often require a large amount of beverages.  When all is said and done, rather than throwing all the empty bottles, cans, and containers in the garbage check and see if they are recyclable and then recycle them accordingly.  Not all packaging will be recyclable, but for those items that are it is a simple way to cut down on your waste.

2. Compost

When you're done with your get together, don't just throw food scraps in the garbage, many foods can be composted.  If you compost your scraps you can have a rich, nutrient filled fertilizer for your garden.  Why not give back to the Earth that feeds you.

3. Go Organic

Do your party shopping at a local farmers market or in the organic or natural section of your local grocery store.  The organic foods you can buy are healthier for you and your guests and also have a more pure flavor than the synthetic or processed foods.  You can also use the different ingredients to make organic snacks and drinks.  Organic recipes are easy to find with the simple click of the button!
