I recently read an article in a school district newsletter from a sixth grade girl who wrote of the need for alternative energy resources in her soon to be remodeled school.  She noted solar power or wind power as possible sources of energy. She mentioned that her school was already “Going Green” with recycling, school garden, and an all-school ‘green’ tip each morning from the student recycling chairman. She wrote this persuasive piece because she thought alternative energy would help save the planet, and also because other schools in her district would also want to go green.  She wrote that there aren’t any more planets so we’d all better do everything possible to protect the only one we have.

This young lady’s ideas are worth considering, and I hope her district thinks so, too.  Her plea was heard, at least by me, and I live in her district. Her words should be heard:  “We could really do this. Please, at least think about it; it’s very important to our future.”

Isn’t it wonderful that the voice of one young sixth grade girl may make a difference? Could you impact others with your “green voice and green actions?"  I think so!
