As you are helping your family trim the tree and deck the halls this year, try these tips to help the environment at the same time!
Tip 1: Reuse--If you have any decorations from previous years that are in good condition, use them. It is very wasteful to toss out last year's decorations to get new ones each year. If there are a few things that need replacement, that is certainly understandable, but try to limit how much you have to throw out and replace.
Tip 2: Make Your Own--Instead of purchasing expensive store-bought ornaments for the tree, make your own. You can make them out of household items like ribbons, bows, and popsicle sticks. You can also make mini picture frames out of those items and frame family photos for the tree.
Tip 3: If holiday lights need to be replaced, replace them with energy-saving, eco-friendly lights. Ask the store about LED lights.
Just remember that you should keep the environment in mind while you are decorating for the holidays.
