So it’s a new year, a fresh new set of 12 months ready for us to enjoy. This year you should think about making your new years resolutions more eco-friendly. Here are some ideas to kick off your new year good and green.
1. Donate toys- As you grow older, your interests change and the things you once liked you may grow out of. If you have toys that clutter your room that you hardly play with anymore, talk to your parents about donating those toys to people who will love them like you did.
2. Recycle- Make it your new years resolution to recycle every bottle, can, and paper you use. Check your product packaging to see if it is recyclable before you banish it to the trash.
3. Be a good citizen- If you see something on the sidewalk, be the one to pick it up and not pass it by. These little things (like cleaning up what is not yours) really matter, because you are not just doing good, you are also setting an example for others to do the same.
4. Walk and bike more- If you can, ride your bike and walk to places you want to go instead of getting a ride in a car. Biking to and from school is a great way to keep yourself healthy, and keep the planet green.
5. Love- The best new years resolution you can make to the world is to love. Love nature, and realize that you are a part of everything around you--from the grass beneath your feet, to the people you meet. You are a part of a global network. Your choices, no matter how small they may be, have an effect on the world. To have one love is to make this effect positive no matter how small it may be, to have love for all. So this year, love everything and all things, and do your part to aid the world in providing a tomorrow that is even better than today.
