Yellowstone was the first national park established in the United States of America, in 1872. A national park is a piece of land set aside by the federal government to preserve wildlife and land. Yellowstone is made up of 22,119,823 acres that is untouched by the hand of modern society. It stands as it was created. The park stretches throughout Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming; including vast forests, glaciers, hot springs, geysers, rivers and plains, Yellowstone is a truly beautiful symbol of the natural landscape of America.

Yellowstone is home to hundreds of different species that roam free in the massive park. Animals like the Grizzly Bear, Black Bear, Elk, Moose, Bison, Wolf, Coyote, Pronghorn, Deer, Eagle, and the Bighorn all live in the park and have been living in the park for centuries.

As well as its animal residents, Yellowstone is also home to impressive landscape features such as the Old Faithful geyser and the Yellowstone Grand Canyon. When Nathaniel Langford first discovered Old Faithful in 1871, he described the geyser as, “A perfect geyser.” The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is 900 feet deep and was created by the Caldera volcanic eruption. The canyon is full of spectacular waterfalls, geysers, and rivers. Some people enjoy rafting in the rivers below or hiking down into it, others prefer just viewing the marvel.

So… When planning the next family trip, keep Yellowstone National Park in mind, as it is one of the only pieces of untouched land left in America.
