Recycling Bin
Teachers, love them or hate them, are here to stay. So, what do you do about a not-so-green teacher? You do what any civilized human being should do, you talk to them. What do you say? Find out, with these five easy tips.
Lets say your teacher does not recycle; ask them why. If they give an answer like "I just don't have the time," ask them if you can set up a recycling bin in their room, to make it easier for them to support recycling.

Re-Fill Bottles
If you notice your teacher drinking alot of bottled water, ask your teacher if they have considered their environmental or financial impact with this habit. Then go on tell them that bottled water and tap water are virtually the same and that they could save money and loads of trash (especially since they don't recycle) by simply using a re-usable water bottle.

Unplug/ Turn Off Electronics at Night.
If your teacher hands out papers that take up half a page or less of information, ask why they don't print two on the same page then cut the papers in half to save trees.
For further reduction of your class's environmental impact, suggest that students should be allowed the option of submitting papers online, to minimize the amount of paper used. If you feel particularly comfortable with your teacher, recommend that they make it mandatory that papers be submitted online.
If your teacher leaves their computer or lights on after they leave school, ask them why. If they make an excuse, tell them that they are wasting your tax money, and you want that money back… Okay, maybe you shouldn't be that forward, but at least inform them of how much power they are wasting throughout the course of the school year, and what that equates to in dollars.
I hope these comments are helpful, and don't get you into trouble. All people have a duty to the world that they live, even teachers.
