Yoga is a great way to stay in shape and healthy.  Its calming nature helps to alleviate stress while toning core muscles.  Here are some fun tips and tricks to get the most from your yoga sessions.

At the Studio:

Many yoga lovers get their fix at a local gym or studio with a yoga instructor who aids in maximizing one's yoga potential.  Whether it is through helping align your pose or tweaking your breathing methods, yoga instructors are there to help.  If you are a new comer to the yoga craze then starting at a studio may be the best option.  You can get one-on-one experience with an instructor who will help build your confidence while relieving some of the built up stress.

At Home:

However, if group and studio workouts are not your cup of tea, try finding a quiet place of serenity at home.  Whether it is outside in the sun or under the shade of a large tree or in a quiet room in the house, finding a place where you can relax and be at ease with yourself and your surroundings is essential to getting the most out of your yoga workout.  Breathing deep breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth, helps to enhance relaxation and relieve stress.

Tips & Tricks:

  • The best time of day to do your yoga workout is in the morning when you are still rested and relaxed and your muscles are loose and movements are easier.
  • Begin with easy postures and proceed to the more difficult ones.  Follow the graded steps.
  • Remember to take periods of relaxation if a particular exercise proves to be tiring.
